Job Summary:

In this role you will plan, coordinate and perform structural engineering tasks to produce design and estimates for projects within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit. You will develop, evaluate, coordinate or modify design, drawings, specifications and requisitions related to precast concrete and associated components under the supervision of a senior Engineer or Engineering Group Supervisor. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s precast concrete design and details are met.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership” #LI-AM3

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the precast structural engineering work for projects in the Manufacturing and Technology GBU to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications.
  • Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)​
  • Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
  • Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
  • Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations
  • Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution​

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess a Professional Engineering (PE) Licence in atleast one US state with the ability to get licensed in other states as required
  • Career-level position within field​
  • Considered highly skilled and proficient in precast structural engineering
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
