Position Summary:

Responsible for the clinical aspects of the PACS system, information integrity and voice recognition system. Work closely with the Breast Imaging Manager and Radiology Manager to ensure all reports are dictated and back to the referring providers in a timely fashion.

Hours: 8 hour shift Monday - Friday. Some overtime may be required.

Position Accountabilities:

  • Daily PACs reconciliation by searching for studies not read; turn to high priority and prepare for interpretation.
  • Maintains a work environment suitable to the radiologists dictation of digital images on a daily basis
  • Works with the radiologists to ensure that their hanging protocols are suitable to their needs
  • Works with the PCP’s and staff at the outlying clinics to ensure that their digital imaging environment is working appropriately at all times.
  • First response for all imaging service needs prior to calling for service
  • Merges patient data within the PACs as necessary.
  • Reconciling all daily fax issues for outside providers.
  • Documents patient data, procedures, and relevant information as determined by practice standards.
  • Evaluates any network, switch or computer issues with the IT team as mandated.
  • Ensure that all reading stations within the clinics meet HIPPA guidelines.
  • Performs and documents quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols.
  • Works with staff and physicians when image transfer issues arise.
  • Adheres to accepted standards, policies, and procedures adopted by the profession and regulated by law.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains appropriate credentials, continuing education, and certification related to clinical practice.
  • Runs appropriate reports as requested by management staff.
  • MIPPS and other quality measure standards programs
  • Manages interfaces as needed
  • Super User and trainer for EMR and PACS as requested.
  • Management of the internet cloud for digital imaging transfer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Specifications:

Minimum Education

  • Graduate of Radiologic Technology program accredited by the American College of Radiology or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Experience working with PACS systems and IT professionals

Minimum Experience

  • 1 year full-time experience as a registered technologist while working in the digital imaging and PACS environment

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • May be required to travel to other locations
  • Lifting, standing, bending, moving patients, supplies and equipment required
  • Exposure to radiation, bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, processing chemicals and airborne particles
