The Opportunity:

Construction Inspector (TERM – Night Shift)

Tetra Tech’s Infrastructure Division is seeking a Construction Inspector with strong surveying capability to join our Winnipeg Construction Services team. Our group supports a wide range of municipal engineering projects across urban, rural, and remote communities, including road construction, water and wastewater systems, land drainage improvements, site grading, flood protection, and subdivision development. This role offers hands‑on field experience in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment with excellent opportunities for professional growth.

In this position, you will provide on‑site inspection, surveying, and construction monitoring to ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with contract requirements. You will work closely with project engineers, contractors, and municipal staff, while also supporting the development of junior team members through mentorship and collaboration.

This will be a term position, from April 2026 to October 2026, and the successful candidate will be expected to work a consistent 12 hour nightshift schedule.

Your Role:

  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with drawings, specifications, and municipal standards
  • Perform construction layout, as‑built surveys, and verification of line, grade, and elevations
  • Inspect installation of underground utilities, roadworks, grading, concrete, and surface restoration
  • Document daily site activities, quantities, equipment, and workforce
  • Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors
  • Review shop drawings, material submissions, and test results
  • Participate in site meetings and provide technical input
  • Track progress and assist with quantity measurements for payment certificates
  • Prepare field reports, photos, and project documentation
  • Promote and adhere to all site safety requirements and Tetra Tech safety policies
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors and survey assistants

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or related field
  • Experience in municipal construction inspection and field surveying
  • Proficiency with GPS, total station, and related survey equipment
  • Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure construction (water, wastewater, drainage, and roadworks)
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with project teams
  • Full Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
