Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Fund Controller to serve as a trusted financial leader within a company that is actively evolving from a services-heavy model to a technology-enabled platform.

This role goes beyond traditional fund administration. You will serve as the primary accounting authority for complex venture fund structures while elevating the systems, standards, and controls that enable our platform to scale. You will work directly with General Partners, navigate technical escalations with confidence, and bring clarity to complex matters such as waterfalls, carry accruals, side letters, and multi-entity structures. Executive presence and gravitas are essential. We are looking for someone who can speak with senior fund managers as a peer, defend accounting positions when challenged, and remain composed under pressure.

This is a leadership-track role. As we scale, this individual will help shape the financial operating framework of the organization, mentor and elevate fund accounting team members, and partner closely with Compliance, Treasury, and Product to strengthen automation and reduce operational fragility.

We are not building a traditional outsourced services firm. We are building an operating system for venture funds. The right candidate will be excited by the opportunity to improve workflows, standardize complex processes, and contribute to a platform that integrates accounting, compliance, and technology. We are seeking a professional with deep venture fund experience who combines technical mastery with judgment, ownership, and the credibility to lead.

What You'll Own
  • Accounting Authority & Standards: Own accounting standards, interpretations, and policy application across supported venture funds. Serve as the final escalation point for complex accounting questions and edge cases, ensuring defensible, consistent treatment across funds, vehicles, and structures.
  • Judgment & Financial Integrity: Review and approve financial outputs where accounting judgment is required, including waterfalls, carry accruals, and capital allocations. Ensure reporting is technically sound, internally consistent, and able to withstand audit or LP scrutiny.
  • Audit & External Coordination: Partner with audit and tax providers to support clean, predictable review cycles. Maintain documentation and clarity that reduces friction during audit and year-end processes.
  • Team Leadership & Quality Control: Guide Senior Fund Accountants in applying standards and resolving complex issues. Elevate review practices, strengthen documentation discipline, and ensure consistent execution across the team.
  • Platform & Process Evolution: Partner with Product and Engineering to inform the design of scalable accounting workflows, controls, and automation. Identify recurring complexity that should be solved structurally rather than through manual intervention.
  • Structural Transitions & Migrations: Support fund migrations, restructurings, and other structural changes from an accounting perspective, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and minimal disruption.

  • What You Bring
  • Depth of Fund Accounting Experience: 7–10+ years in fund accounting or fund administration, with meaningful exposure to venture capital or private equity fund structures and full lifecycle workflows.
  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrated experience working with European and American waterfalls, capital calls and distributions, carry modeling, clawbacks, side letters, and ASC 820 fair value considerations. Strong familiarity with LPAs and their accounting implications.
  • Judgment in Ambiguity: Proven experience making and defending accounting judgment calls in complex, multi-fund environments. Ability to operate confidently in edge cases where clear precedent may not exist.
  • Stakeholder Confidence: Experience interfacing directly with General Partners, CFOs, or fund principals. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accountants and defend positions when challenged.
  • Leadership & Quality Orientation: Experience reviewing and elevating the work of other accountants. Ability to lead through clarity, collaboration, and consistency while holding a high bar for accuracy.
  • Systems Mindset: Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, or Operations teams to translate accounting requirements into scalable systems, workflows, or tooling.
  • Operational Maturity: Comfort operating in a remote, fast-moving, and evolving organization without excessive structure or oversight.

  • What We Offer
  • Meaningful impact through building infrastructure that expands access to venture capital globally
  • Opportunity for career growth and role expansion as the platform scales
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
  • Remote-first work environment with thoughtful, high-caliber teammates
  • A working schedule for adults, including flexible hours and flexible PTO
  • How to Apply:
If you don't tick every box above, we'd still encourage you to apply. We're building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
