We are currently looking for a Clinical Nurse Trainer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs focused on mental health topics, including suicide prevention and safety planning interventions. The selected candidate will bring strong clinical expertise, experience supporting the veteran population, and familiarity with telehealth-based service delivery models. The candidate must reside within the continental US. Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop comprehensive training materials and modules focused on mental health assessment, suicide prevention, and safety planning interventions tailored for VA clinicians and staff.
  • Facilitate engaging and effective classroom and virtual training sessions, including telehealth-based delivery formats, for multidisciplinary VA staff.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on evidence-based mental health practices, suicide risk mitigation, and telehealth service delivery.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, performance metrics, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with VA leadership, education coordinators, and stakeholders to align training programs with national standards and VA priorities.
  • Incorporate adult learning principles and instructional design best practices into all training initiatives.
  • Promote trauma-informed, veteran-centered care principles across training content and delivery.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • 3–5 years of experience in mental health and suicide prevention, preferably within the VA healthcare system.
  • Direct experience with safety planning interventions and suicide risk assessment protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating both in-person and telehealth training programs.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, veteran-centered care practices.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Prior experience supporting VA clinical education or national VA training initiatives.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote training technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Knowledge of VA policies, procedures, and suicide prevention initiatives.
