Position- Appliance Tester

Shift-8:00 am-4:30 pm or 7:30 am-4:00 pm, Monday to Friday (+ some Saturdays).

As an Appliance Tester, you are responsible for testing Appliances to determine whether a unit is defective or operational, and to disposition the unit physically and electronically to the next logical destination.

This may include but is not limited to verifying functionality, checking cooling and/or heating temperature, confirming essential accessories, sorting and grading units based on physical and cosmetic condition, accurate processing etc.


Appliance Testers are also responsible for assisting with other technical service or logistics duties as necessary so a successful applicant will have material handling responsibilities and other accountabilities or projects as assigned or required.

As an Appliance Tester, you will…


Test Appliances (e.g., Washers, Dryers, Ranges, Dishwashers, Refrigerators, Freezers, microwaves etc.) to determine whether a unit is defective or operational.

Have a basic knowledge of electrical theory since potentially dangerous voltages are involved.
Know how to safely connect electrical and/or gas appliances in proximity to water.

Understand the potential hazards and safe handling of motors, microwaves, fans and fan-blades, heating elements and other electrical and mechanical components.

Have at least a basic knowledge of the operation of some appliances.
Possess experience in performing functionality tests on appliances.
Knowledge on performing reset or data wipe on domestic appliances or other equipment.
Physically and electronically disposition the unit to the next logical destination
Assist with other technical service duties as necessary
Take on material handling responsibilities and other accountabilities or projects as assigned or required

Here's What We Need…

Minimum 6 months experience working in a service center or similar environment testing electronics, consumer equipment or appliances.
A least a basic understanding or working knowledge of Electrical or Electronic theory.
Prior experience or training in Appliance Theory, Testing or Repair would be an asset.
Mechanical training, knowledge or experience will be an asset.
A working knowledge of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, outlook.
Ability to perform material handling duties (up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis)
Compensation will be evaluated on experience and skill

Base pay range


Hourly pay rate:
$ $18.68
