Control the Flow of the Middle Mile

About Amazon & Our Dominant Culture

Amazon's logistics network is an intricate web of fulfillment centers, sortation centers, and delivery stations. The sortation center is the critical "middle mile" where the chaos of millions of packages is organized into perfect geographic precision. We are looking for highly energetic individuals to join our team. If you want Amazon jobs that offer part-time flexibility, incredible teamwork, and a dominant presence in the supply chain, this is the perfect opportunity.

What Our Associates Say: Real Employee Reviews

Our Sortation teams are famous for their high-energy, collaborative environments. An associate review states: "Working as a Package Sorter is basically getting paid to play real-life Tetris. Building the pallets is challenging but fun. The shifts are flexible, which is perfect for my college schedule, and it's the best warehouse associate job for anyone who wants to stay active and work with a tight-knit team." The role is highly rated for its low-stress mental load and high physical engagement.

Job Summary

As a Package Sorter, you will work in a fast-paced sortation facility. Your primary mission is to intercept sealed packages coming down the conveyor chutes, read their geographic routing labels, and sort them onto the correct outbound pallets or carts. This logistics career path is perfect for those who enjoy immediate, tangible results and thrive in a bustling, team-oriented industrial environment.

Comprehensive Responsibilities

  • High-Speed Sorting: Visually identify destination zip codes and routing codes on fast-moving packages, sorting them accurately into designated chutes, carts, or gaylords.
  • Pallet Building: Expertly stack boxes onto wooden pallets to maximize space and ensure stability. Use shrink-wrap machines or manual wrap techniques to secure the pallets for safe transport.
  • Fluid Loading: Utilize manual and electric pallet jacks to maneuver heavy, completed pallets directly into outbound semi-trailers, ensuring trucks depart strictly on schedule.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with your lane partners to prevent conveyor jams during peak volume rushes, jumping in to help clear bottlenecks instantly.

Industry-Leading Benefits

Even for flexible schedules, Amazon provides dominant benefits:

  • Flexible Scheduling: Choose shifts that fit your life—mornings, evenings, or weekends. Perfect for students or those seeking secondary income.
  • Career Advancement: Sortation centers are breeding grounds for leadership; dedicated sorters quickly advance to Process Assistants and Area Managers.
  • Total Rewards: Access to a 401(k) with company match, employee discount codes, and comprehensive employee assistance programs.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a High School diploma or GED.
  • Incredible physical stamina; the ability to stand, bend, twist, and continuously lift up to 49 lbs for the duration of the shift.
  • A strong team-oriented mindset and a commitment to maintaining a safe workspace.
